Now, mostly retired, Gerry has been involved in organizational change, process improvement, and leadership development for over 40 years. Gerry has led teams and trained leaders for teams in a wide variety of business, governmental, and volunteer organizations. Many of the teams have included process improvement as their main focus. His recent activities have focused on helping senior management respond to the changing leadership demands of implementing Lean Enterprise.
Gerry has trained team leaders at all levels of the organization including people working in the production process, team leaders, line supervisors, managers, and executives. He was recognized for training virtually all Engineering middle managers as Product Team Leaders and was named Product Team Leader Emeritus at Pratt & Whitney.
Recent consulting experience has included implementation of Lean Enterprise principles and techniques in the hospitality business, at several manufacturing companies, and in a software development company. Gerry was one of the original partners of Lean Value Solutions International.
Gerry served as the Manager of Continuous Improvement for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation where he was responsible for implementing a Lean Enterprise/Lean Office process improvement activity in hospitality, service, government, and business enterprises.
Previously, Gerry was Manager of Engineering Process Development at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford. In that position, he played a key role in a corporate team to research and develop a methodology to implement the best practices in process management for the corporation. That study led to his leading the organization redesign team for the integration of the engineering and manufacturing functions at Pratt & Whitney.
Gerry authored "Putting TQM to Work - Lessons Learned about Implementing TQM" for the Connecticut Quality Council and coauthored "Enterprise Productivity: Process Management Guide and Tools" for United Technologies Corp. Star Leadership was written in 1987 for use in training Team Leaders. Other recent papers are posted on the Lean Enterprise Institute's web site.
